Terms of membership
The terms that apply to every Blue Benches membership.
1. Personal use only
Membership is personal to the named member (and, on the Office plan, up to two named staff). Briefings and all other material are for your own use in your parliamentary work. You may draw on them in your own speeches, questions and correspondence.
You must not copy, print for circulation, forward, publish, post online, share your login, or otherwise pass on any briefing or part of one to anyone outside the membership, without written permission.
2. Cancellation
Monthly and annual memberships may be cancelled by giving one full calendar month’s notice in writing to sarah@bluebenches.co.uk. Payments falling due during the notice period remain payable. Annual fees are not refunded for the unused part of a year. Membership continues until the end of the period paid for.
3. Breach
If material is shared outside the membership, Blue Benches may suspend or end the membership without refund.
4. Nature of the service
Briefings are compiled from public sources and parliamentary papers, curated and checked before publication by Sarah Fletcher, with the help of research and drafting tools. Reasonable care is taken, but no guarantee is given that every item is complete, current or free from error.
Parliamentary business changes at short notice: please check timings and details against the official parliamentary record before relying on them. Analysis and suggested supplementaries are opinion, labelled as such, and are offered for your consideration. Nothing in a briefing is legal, financial or professional advice.
5. Independence
Blue Benches is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Conservative Party or any other organisation, and does not speak for any party, member or office. Quotations are reproduced as reported in the sources cited.
6. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Blue Benches is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on its material. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
7. Copyright
Briefings are the copyright of Blue Benches. Parliamentary material is reproduced under the Open Parliament Licence, and other sources are credited.
8. Confidentiality and data
The membership list is private and is never published, shared or sold. Your details are used only to run your membership.
9. Prices and changes
Blue Benches is not currently VAT-registered. If it becomes registered, VAT will be added to fees at the standard rate, with at least 30 days’ notice. Blue Benches may change prices or these terms by giving at least 30 days’ notice. Founding rates (before any VAT) apply for the first 12 months of membership. After that, members are welcome to continue at the standard member rate.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
